A mysterious gentleman gives Nick a talisman that takes him back in time, hour by hour, for a total of twelve hours. With each hour, Nick finds more clues to the identity of the killer, but he also discovers that his actions in the past may have unexpected repercussions in the future. If he doesn't set things right by the thirteenth hour, all will be lost, and his desperate attempts to save Julia's life may lead to a far greater catastrophe than he could have ever imagined.

Introduction

Nick Quinn finds himself stuck in a police station, accused of an unspeakable horror: the murder of his beloved wife, Julia. The police refuse to believe that Nick had nothing to do with her death. As they leave him to his fate, a mysterious man enters and makes a tempting offer: “If you could get out of here, if you could save her, would you?” He places a gold watch in Nick’s hands and tells him that he now has the ability to relive the past twelve hours, hour by hour, in order to stop his wife’s killer. The only catch is that he will live them in reverse.

Nick ventures back through time attempting to stop the death of the woman he loves but soon realizes that he is caught up in bigger events than he could ever imagine. While dodging confused friends, taking on corrupt cops, and reliving a horrific plane crash over and over, Nick will discover that his best efforts in the past often have disastrous results in the future.

Q. how did you come to write The 13th Hour?

A. I sat down on June 30th 2008 and wanted to see if I could write a book in 30 days. In order to do that I knew I would have to pick a story from a file I keep of one page outlines (as a story teller, I write an outline every day to hone my craft). It would have to be a story that required little to no research so the facts and fun information I include in my books would already have to be in my head. The location would also need to be one I was familiar with as there would be no time to study maps for accuracy.

Most importantly it would have to be original and fun, a story that would compel me to write at least 3,000 words a day; a story that would excite me and flow naturally from my thoughts, experiences, and imagination.

And so I chose the idea I came up with on April 26th 2008. The simple outline of a story told in reverse, a time travel tale of a man racing against time to save the woman he loved.
