A. Beneath the Bruises started out as a poem dedicated to women who had experienced domestic violence. I eventually decided to turn it into a book as a result of my work with the offenders of domestic violence.
I was inspired to write Shattered Souls during my time as a director for an adolescent crisis shelter. After almost ten years of working there, I would often wonder who and what some of these teens would become as adults. Then I started having dreams for three nights straight. On the third night, I woke up and started typing. Eight months later, my manuscript was finished.
