The Harris Family
Julius Harris walked out on his family twenty-five years ago—and not a moment goes by that he doesn’t regret it. Five years ago, after learning he had cancer, Julius reached out to his three grown sons in Chicago: his oldest, Austin, a successful attorney and divorced single dad; middle son Marcus, unable to commit to the woman he loves; and rebellious young Caleb, just released from prison and fighting to win back his baby mama and child. The brothers rejected Julius’s peacemaking attempt: it’s hard enough being there for one another, let alone for a father they haven’t seen in years. Nor are they sure they even want him in their lives.
But then Julius gets an unexpected gift—time—when his disease goes into remission. Will this miracle afford him one more chance to make up for his past mistakes?
RM Johnson’s “compassionate” (Booklist) sequel to The Harris Men is a moving testament to the power of family, love, and forgiveness.
