Description

Livey Ell is the only normal person in a family of math geniuses. From her absentminded professor father to her weirdo little brother Darby, it’s a wonder she’s as normal as she is. But when Darby’s imaginary friend Bob turns out to be very real, Livey’s life takes a turn for the extraordinary. Bob, a creature of pure math, hates chaos and disorder, and tries to fix it in any way he can. When he turns his attentions on our disorderly world, Livey and Darby must stop him at all costs, before life as we know it is changed forever.

How did you come to write this book?

As a boy, I loved numbers. In another life, I'd be a mathematician—authors are easily forgotten, but if you discover an important theorem, you will be remembered forever, as in, for example, "the elegant Lewis Squared Circle Theorem". I decided to write a mathematical sort of novel, wherein a ten-year-old genius brings his imaginary friend to life through a mathematical proof. Bob is not your normal monster. Being a creature of pure math, he loves truth, beauty, and elegance, and decides that our ugly world needs some fixing up. MONSTER'S PROOF is a funny scary novel for who hated math and those who loved it.
